Competition Terms and Conditions

Please read the following carefully before you submit your entry or entries to "The Kutz" Stencil Art Awards. By entering this competition you are agreeing to and will be bound by these Terms and Conditions.


Entrant: the creator and owner of the submitted work(s).
Stencil: a thin sheet of card, plastic or metal with a pattern or letters cut out of it, used to produce the cut design on the surface below by the application of ink or paint through the holes.
Work: the artwork submitted by the entrant, the majority of which must be created using stencils.
Entry form: the set of questions to be filled in for each submission and accompanying instructions, available in downloadable form from the award website.

“The Kutz”: the name of the stencil art competition run by It's All 2 Much Art Gallery.

The Small Print

Each entrant can submit up to three (3) works. The entrant must have created each work submitted. An entry fee of £15 for one work, £25 for two works or £35 for three works must be paid using the PayPal link on the award website. The entry fee is non-refundable. The work entered must not have been on display at any exhibition or event and must not have been submitted to another competition. A variation of a previously displayed work is permitted. The work must have been created in the last 18 months. The maximum size for a submitted work is 102cms wide by 102cms high.

A completed entry form must be emailed to us for each submitted work and a high-resolution photograph of the completed work must be attached. The image must be appropriately cropped for viewing and provided as a jpeg at least 1Mb in size up to a maximum size of 4 Mb. Submissions must reach us by 23:59 GMT on the closing date of 30th September 2017. Incomplete entry forms may result in the work being omitted from the selection process. Selected works will be displayed on the gallery website and the award website and images may be used for publicity purposes by the gallery and associated sponsors with appropriate entrant accreditation. The copyright of all works remains with the entrants at all times.

The finalists will be selected by a panel of judges from all eligible works received by the submission deadline. Finalists will be notified by email as well as being published on the award website, in October 2017. The decision of the judges is final.

If selected as a finalist the entrant is required to submit the work to an exhibition organized by the gallery. The work must therefore be of suitable exhibition quality, mounted and framed if necessary, and be presented in a ready-to-hang state. The work must be available for sale (commission-based) during the period of the exhibition. A copy of the full terms and conditions of the exhibition will be sent to each finalist.

The entrant must bear the cost of shipping the work to and from the gallery. The work delivered to the gallery must be the one for which an image was provided in the entry process. The entrant leaves all works in the custody of the gallery at his/her own risk. The gallery undertakes to ensure that all reasonable steps are taken to safeguard the works but will not be held responsible for their loss or damage.

The exhibition will take place in late 2017 (the exact dates will be announced later on the award website and the gallery website) at the gallery. We reserve the right to change the venue should we consider it necessary for space requirements, but reasonable notice will be given to the finalists should this happen.

The winning work will be announced at the opening of the exhibition. The winning entrant will be awarded “The Kutz” prize of £1,000 from the gallery. Other prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the gallery and associated sponsors. Merchandising opportunities may also be offered to the finalists should they wish to accept a merchandise agreement.
